Summer Camp Bloomington, IN July 2008

		In late July, we took our mostly first year scouts to summer camp at Camp Ransburg near Bloomington, IN where we have attended summer camp for many, many years now.  We had eleven scouts and several Dads for some or all of the six days we were there.  The weather was hot and we had a downpour or two, but it was a successful week of advancement, dining hall fun, swimming and general Boy Scout Camp adventure.    Summer camp is about memories.  A lake, fantastic sunsets and sunrises and the warmth of a July day in Indiana will do the trick.  Our scouts took a variety of merit badge classes and activities.  Here's Douglass at the black powder range about to be set back a few inches.  One of our scouts ready to launch at the rocket range.  What would camp be like if we couldn't have fires and attempt to blow things up? Summer Camp is about critters... It takes a lot of work behind the scenes... ...to feed all those hungry boys.... Campfire assemblies are a time to be silly and watch everyone else do the same... ...and what would summer camp be without ceremony and a little mystic fire? We were camped at The Oaks campsite this year... ...where the fishing is great! Hangin' out time is important for scouts... ...and adults!
