The Awesome Oldies Patrol gathered to work on breakfast for the cooking contest and have a cuppa..... The Wolverine Patrol entry for our breakfast cooking competition.  Pancakes are really hard on a skillet in the woods on uneven ground, but look at these!

The Pedro Patrol won the contest preparing French toast with fresh cooked apples and cinnamon seasoning, sausage, orange slices and fresh squeezed OJ.  OK, moms, they CAN do this, so don't hesitate to enlist them at home, too! Shotgun shooting is always a favorite activity.  Most of the younger scouts have never held a gun. so it's really fun to watch them develop over the day.  We keep very close tabs on everyone and safety is the number one issue at all times.

The dads shoot backup for the boys so after the scout has had a go with his single shot, Dad can try for a long reach out there. Each scout has to take his turn at loading the clay pigeon launcher under adult supervision, of course.

We shot for about three hours.... and everyone got to shoot as many times as he wanted...

while the rest of the crew watched behind the safety line and waited their turns. When the range was finally declared cold, we turned them loose and they scrambled to find unbroken clay pigeons, plastic wadding and spent shells.  This was perhaps as much fun as shooting for many of the scouts.

After we shot, we took the scouts on a hike.  This is the high stand for deer hunting.  In a cave, we found lots of small places to hide....

...make ourselves hard to see... ...and get muddy!

There were also great places to relax... ...and fantastic cliffs to climb.  They were about ninety feet up on this ledge!

There were crevices to climb and explore.... ...and streams to cross on logs, or not.

There was always one more cliff that took them higher. While the scouts ate outside, the adults enjoyed some creature comforts in the cabin.

The adult entry in the cooking contest.  I almost forgot! French toast from a great recipe, sausage, and fresh fruit, well displayed.  The syrup should have been hot, though.
