Isle Royal
Troop 183 went back to Isle Royal for the third time this summer. Two crews went, a canoe crew and a hiking crew. The hiking crew were let off at the west end of the island and hiked to the east end to Rock Harbour. The canoe crew got a great tour of the coast of the island and then were let off on the south side. Both crews had lifetime experiences and the dads that went along can attest to the time they had with their sons. No one will forget their time on this special island in the middle of Lake Superior on our least visited National Park.
Here's our hiking crew filling their water bottles from one of the many lakes on the island.
And here's the hiking crew all suited up for covering ground.
A walk through the forests and thimbleberries...
...and over countless miles of boardwalk.
A swim in the icy water of one of the inland lakes...
...and a sunset for the memories.
A couple of the local fauna....
...and a few of the non-local fauna, looking and feeling their best!
A fellow could really get tired of all...
...this scenery, or maybe not...
There were lots of Luna moths....
...and great vistas.
A fishing break...
yielded great results!
The hiking crew approaches....
...and reaches Rock Harbour.
Not to be outdone, the canoe crew had its own great scenery... ...and their own fish stories. Manning the bow of one of our canoes An overnight stop at one of the huts An instruction moment in camp.... and life on the deck of the luxury cruise ship... And here our crews are united again for the trip home
